La fotografia di moda è, nella sua definizione più semplice, un’immagine realizzata per fornire una descrizione di abiti e accessori da vendere. Non una forma di fotografia informativa ma un modo per catturare lo Zeitgeist, lo spirito del tempo, e aiutare a suggerire cosa sia desiderabile. Se volessimo paragonare tra loro due foto di moda, anche se distanti tra loro centinaia di anni, noteremmo che parlano entrambe di uno stile di vita. La posa, l’abbigliamento non esprimono uno stato mentale, ma lo plasmano. Talvolta, le immagini di moda ci appaiono velate e di non facile riconoscimento, altre volte si palesano al nostro sguardo sulle pagine delle riviste patinate o sui cartelloni pubblicitari nelle metropoli, costituendo così il decoro delle nostre città, occupando con forza e determinazione l’immaginario di ciascuno di noi. Ci appartengono, ma allo stesso tempo sono globali e universali, omologando gusti e tendenze. La fotografia di moda nasce per essere consumata velocemente.

Fashion photography is, in its simplest definition, a genre of photography which is devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items to sell.  So, not a kind of informational photography but  a way to capture the Zeitgeist, the spirit of time, and help to suggest what is attractive and fancied. If we want to compare two photos among them, even though far apart hundred years, we could notice that both talk about a lifestyle. The pose and the outfit don’t express a mental status but they shape it. Sometimes, fashion images appears veiled to us and  not easily recognisable , other times they reveal themselves to our gaze on the glossy fashion magazines or on billboards in metropolis, coming to be as well the decoration of our cities and capturing with force and determination the imaginary of each person. They belong to us, but at the same time worldwide and universal, conforming tastes and trends. Fashion photography arose to be quickly exhausted.
